Documentary: 'Gasland Part II'

With Discussion of Fracking by Jim Wilson

In Gasland (2010), director Josh Fox journeyed across America to examine the negative effects of natural-gas drilling using a method called fracking (hydraulic fracturing)—from poisoned water sources, to kitchen sinks that burst into flames, to unhealthy animals and people. Gasland Part II is even more eye-opening and hard-hitting; Fox explores extensive political corruption among governments and Big Oil and Gas, along with some of the long-term consequences of this controversial oil-extracting method. Both films received Oscar nominations. 2013; 120 minutes.

Jim Wilson is a local eco-activist who is involved in the anti-fracking movement in California. He will bring you up-to-date about the fracking in California today and plans for the future. Questions are encouraged and reference material will be available.
