36th Annual Day for the Queen

On Friday, August 16, 2013, Day for the Queen, the annual fundraiser for Queen of the Valley Medical Center will add an exotic note to this day of fun, food and dancing, with the theme “The Queen on Safari.” Now in its 36th year, the annual event brings together Napa Valley business and community leaders, athletes, trendsetters, former patients and others in support of the hospital. The benefit at Silverado Resort and Spa is hosted and made possible by Queen of the Valley Foundation.

The fun filled day is packed with activities including two golf tournaments, a fashion show and luncheon, evening cocktails, silent and live auctions, BBQ dinner and dancing.  This year, the event will feature live music by The Fundamentals.

Proceeds from Day for the Queen will benefit the Herman Family Pavilion, opening to the public this fall. The Pavilion will feature a new hybrid surgical suite, an operating room that combines the most advanced imaging capabilities with robotics and traditional surgery. The technology will aid physicians during the most difficult of surgeries, including complex cancer, heart and brain procedures.
The event this year will honor Community Projects, Inc., a nonprofit, nonsectarian women's volunteer organization whose primary function is to raise funds through sales in its thrift shop, which it then donates to worthy causes within Napa County. The group was one of Queen of the Valley’s earliest supporters and has been a key partner and generous financial supporter for more than 60 years, ever since the Queen’s inception as Parks Victory Hospital. Community Projects, Inc. formed the hospital’s first auxiliary in 1950 and later organized an auxiliary and staffed the gift shop when the new Queen of the Valley Hospital opened in 1958. Over the years, Community Projects, Inc. has donated a total of $1.1 million to the Queen
