Is there something special about your house that made you fall in love with it? Perhaps a big claw-foot bathtub you adore soaking in? Or maybe a fruit tree in the backyard that inspires you to bake delicious apple pies?

For me the allure of our house is the view. The house came with its share of problems, including a wacky floor plan: The front door opened into the kitchen. But I figured we could adjust these problems by knocking down a wall here and there.

The view was the thing that had already solidly captured my heart. From the back of the house is a view across the valley floor to the East Napa hills. The open-beam ceiling and the huge built-in bookcase in the living room are other charming features that hooked me.
