Tree Lighting, Art Parties Tonight in Napa

Thanksgiving Eve will be doubly festive in downtown Napa, with the annual lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 p.m. followed by the opening of the third annual Art on First exhibition.

The 2012 holiday season in downtown Napa officially begins this evening, when newly-reelected Mayor Jill Techel lights the Christmas tree in Veterans Memorial Park.

The 6 p.m. tree-lighting ceremony will be accompanied by hot chocolate, cookis and entertainment, according to a Facebook posting for the event.

Once the tree is alight, revelers are invited to stroll up First Street, taking in the latest new window displays in the third annual Art on First exhibition, which transforms vacant storefronts into art installations.
