See if You Can Pass a U.S. Citizenship Test

Test your knowledge of what it takes to become an American citizen on a sample citizenship preparation test from Smithsonian.

While many of us were born in the U.S.A. and never had to think about what it takes to become a citizen, we’ve always been a land of immigrants.

When someone chooses to become a citizen of this country, he or she must pass a test on American history similar to a sample one available on Smithsonian’s website. 

The 10-question sample test is multiple-choice, but the actual test to take the oath of citizenship is not multiple-choice and applicants must respond out loud with their correct answers to questions including:

What is the supreme law of the land?

We elect a president for how many years?

What is the rule of law?
