Nighttime Closures for Hwy. 12 to Solano County Return

Each night this week the direct access from Napa to I-80 will shut down for road work, according to CalTrans.

If you work the swing shift, and your commute takes you from Napa west to Interstate 80, or back home in the other direction, be aware that Hwy. 12 will be closed each night this week for construction.

Similar road closures occured in February and July of this year.

Closures will begin at 11 p.m. nightly through Friday, Nov. 17, and the highway is expected to be open at 5 a.m. after six hours of nighttime construction, according to Caltrans public affairs office.

The closures are necessary so that Caltrans can continue with drainage and culvert work needed as part of the overall widening project, a report in the Times Herald online stated.

Westbound Hwy. 12 drivers are advised to use westbound I-80 to westbound Hwy. 37 to northbound Hwy. 29.

Local access will be available for Jameson Canyon residents and emergency vehicles only.

The California Highway Patrol will install electronic message signs and help direct motorists during the road closures. Additional project information is posted on the Caltrans' Highway 12-Jameson Canyon web page.
