Laszlo Gennet Takes Napa Patch's Cutest Dog Crown

The one-year-old Vizsla also happens to celebrate his first birthday today.

Though Laszlo Gennet will wag his tail like it’s any other day, his owner, Natasha Gennet, will know one of her best friends is celebrating his first birthday, and that he’s been named the cutest dog in Napa.

If Laszlo could speak, he may claim bragging rights for such an incredible coincedence.

Laszlo topped Patrina in a 129-88 vote in the , which was held over the past two weeks.

“This is my first dog I’ve had as an adult and I’ve totally turned into the crazy person that is obsessed with their dog and puts them in contests,” Natasha said.

Laszlo is a "Vizsla," which according to the American Kennel Club, is “a medium-sized, short-coated hunting dog that is essentially Pointer in type, although he combines characteristics of both pointer and retriever.”

Natasha said she gets questions about Laszlo’s breed.

“I think it’s not a very common breed, although it’s gaining popularity,” she said. “It’s only been around in this country since 1950. We definitely do get some comments.”

It took a little thinking before Natasha and her family decided a Viszla was the way to go.

“We did a bunch of research when we decided to get a dog,” she said. “We had a list of criteria and he pretty much fit the bill on everything we were looking for.”

Gennet's family from Norway and Texas tossed-in votes for Laszlo.

“We’re just happy and thankful that we have so many friends and family that are loving and supportive,” she said.
