High Water in the Napa Valley: Share Photos Here

More than 50 images from the weekend have been added to our gallery. Did you capture pictures of the winter storms and rising water? Here's where you can share them.

For people like Mary Richardson and me, it's practically impossible to pass up any opportunity to capture images of things we see that impress us in one way or another.

Extreme weather events like our current storm system are full of such moments, and Mary has been kind enough to share some photos of the Napa River from Saturday afternoon.

If you, too, have photos or videos you'd like to share, I welcome you to add them to this gallery.

And please stay with Napa Valley Patch throughout the remainder of this storm, which is expected to blow through by Sunday night. Napa County and city officials are monitoring the weather and we'll publish updates as soon as we receive them.

I believe the mushroom in the picture is what is called the "death cap", a toxic mushroom. I think mushrooms are neat and I have some growing in my yard. I wanted to try to figure out what kind they were (not to eat, I'm no expert) but I kept coming across warnings of this particular fungi that looks similar to the one in the picture above. Do we have any expert wild mushroom foragers who could possibly identify the species of mushroom?

Ah, I saw it and at first named it a toadstool, and then I had to look up toadstool to see if I was misnaming it, and I decided I'd better call it a mushroom! That's all I know! :)

You're spot on, Louisa, it IS practically impossible for me to pass up any opportunity to capture images of things I see that impress me in one way or another. It is also true, and kind of a blessing, that I am often easily impressed! Here's to us! <grin>!

My mushroom guy is not online much — but he's always been one to caution against foraging anything unless you are 100 percent sure you know what it is. "There are old mushroom hunters and there are bold mushroom hunters, but there are no old, bold mushroom hunters," he has always said to me. Mary I love your pictures and Louisa you are exactly correct about mushrooms! I just find them really neat. Guess I'm OK into fun-guys! LOL

Well, thanks very much for your compliment, Orchid Lady! I'm glad one of my photos got you wondering! Mushrooms are indeed interesting!
