Update: Bomb Squad Investigates "Suspicious" Items in Downtown Napa

Most streets reopened by 11:30 a.m., First Street remains closed from Coombs to Randolph.

The Napa County Hazardous Device Team has responded to a report of a suspicious object in downtown Napa, a sheriff's captain said.

A man called Napa police at 6:55 a.m. to report a suspicious object on a bench in the 1200 block of First Street, Napa County sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart said.

The man also noticed something suspicious in a nearby garbage can, Stuart said.

Police shut down First Street near Randolph Street, and Stuart said the area will be closed for several hours.
