Bites Nearby: Sweetie Pies Cafe
Sweetie Pies, a slammin' Main Street bakery and cafe, is the place to go when you're hankering for a chocolate croissant or a cuppa joe, as this Patch writer most frequently is.
Weekday or weekend, in the usually has a line out the door. Most come for the amazing coffees (served in larger than life mugs) and sweet treats, while others come --newspaper in hand-- for great people watching. Whether you’re in the market for a birthday cake, a caffeinated pick-me-up, or some town gossip, you can find it all with a side of fries at this hopping downtown café.
If you’re stopping by for breakfast grub, try one of their delicious Apple Cream Cheese Braids or a Veggie Country Tart. Lunch more your thing? Try the classic Ham and Cheese sandwich, loaded with ham, swiss cheese, fig jam and honey mustard ($7.80) Soups and sides ($4 -$6) are also a'plenty on the menu. Amazing pastries are available from open to close (like their out-of-this-world chocolate croissants and sticky buns)-- but be warned: These treats sell out fast!
Most of the time, I wind up leaving Sweetie Pies with my hands full of to-go coffee and a mouthful of chocolate croissant. Go forth, good citizens, and pick up your handfuls of choice!
