Wondering why the sudden interest in Heroin in Napa? Why the uptick in smack arrests? Here's why.
OK, quick blog today. I called up my undercover contact Rio to ask about Heroin. Why is it in Napa, what's it cost, and why do people use it?
Rio gave me a few quick answers, and advised I google Heroin. Apparently, it's a "downer", and also common with drinkers of alcohol and opiates like Vicodin, Oxy, and morphine. Drugs I've used for pain. Apparently, after the drug user has gone through all the docs they know, and can't get any more Rx meds, they go to street drugs for their pain and addiction.
Dosages, a wild guess by Rio (she's going to check some better stats for me) maybe like $20 a day for a new user. Frequent habitual users can spend $100-$500 per day easily, smoking it or shooting it up.
Rio describes heroin as a "ritualistic" drug, with people having specific equipment for vein injection and immediate gratification.
Per Wikipedia, Heroin is known medically as "morphine diacetate". I'd thought, in error, that it was all natural poppy seed, but it's a combo of morphine and synthetic molecule, which "synthesize in the body to metabolically change into morphine". No wonder it's so powerful and addictive. Oh, and Mexican drug cartels are moving in on this heavy. No wonder it's getting hot in Napa now.
More info and pictures later. Rio is busy busting some bad guys, doing some real work while I'm just blogging.
