Originally from Ecuador, the Anda family owns and operates both the retail and online stores.  Fabian and Mercedes Anda opened Montecristi Panama Hats Napa Valley, the first retail Panama hat shop located in the historical Vintage 1870 building in the quaint town of Yountville, CA in July 2012.  Since then, business has taken off in Wine Country with an array of very satisfied customers from locals as well as tourists.  The family decided it was time to expand online. Their daughter, Carolina Girardo, welcomed the challenge and began working out the details including product offerings, logistics, and opertations since the beginning of 2013. "Selling the legendary Panama hats is a serious business for our family and we are proud to share this artful centuries-old weaving tradition from our native country with customers in Wine Country and beyond," stated Girardo, Owner.  "The artisans also take great pride in their work with their hearts and souls hand-woven into every hat we deliver," said Girardo.

People seek out authentic Panama hats for their allure as much as their high quality.  A genuine Panama hat is hand-woven from the fibers of the Toquilla Palm, the Panama, known in South America as "Sombrero de Paja Toquilla" is tryly a masterpiece of fine art and Ecuadorian tradition.  Each Panama hat is woven by a single artisan, hand-blocked, and takes months to complete.  The Pamana hat is known globally for its exquisite craftsmanship and marked its place in history when it was showcased at the Universal Show in Paris in the 1800s. Since then, the Paham hat has grown in popularity being worn by world leaders, U.S. Presidents, celebrities, intellectuals, writers, painters, socialites, and others all over the world.
