Wineries? There's an App for That

If you or your friends want to go wine touring with iPhone in hand, now there's a free comprehensive app for wineries, hotels and more.

WineCountry.com, the Napa-based digital marketplace for wine tourism, promotes wineries though its local portals including Sonoma.com and Napa.com. Now it's jumping onto the mobile wave with the release of its , called simply "Napa Valley and Sonoma County Wine Country" (available on iTunes).

The free iPhone based application, which is also compatible with the Apple iPad, offers mobile access to its network of wineries, restaurants, hotels and visitor-facing businesses in wine country. "Comprehensive travel information" is promised for both Napa and Sonoma in a user-friendly and practical interface, according to a press release from the company.

“We’ve been welcoming wine-loving visitors to Napa and Sonoma for almost twenty years,” says WineCountry.com co-founder Heidi Paul. “Our app makes it easier than ever for our guests to connect with the wine country businesses that serve them, and spend more time enjoying what our area has to offer.”

Many area wineries and tasting rooms have their own iPhone and/or Android apps, and apps are available such as Hello Vino for wine pairing, Wine News and Reviews from Wine Spectator, and others.

The WineCountry.com app provides basic address and contact information for all visitor-facing businesses and events, as well as each winery's availability for tasting visits. WineCountry.com partners are featured in the app with expanded descriptions and information, as well as links to the partner's website, social pages, promotions, and more.

It claims to serve 2 million consumers annually.
