Cuisine from Turkey and Greece is in the spotlight at Tarla Mediterranean Grill on First Street.
Located on the ground floor of the , Tarla is the dream of Yusuf Topal and his wife, Breanna Salvatore Topal.
He grew up in Istanbul, Turkey and his wife and her family are Napa residents. The couple met while working on a cruise ship.
“Opening a restaurant has been a dream since 2009. I wanted to have my own business,” Yusuf Topal said.
“The economy seems to be getting better and people are coming to Napa for the food and restaurants.”
Tarla will offer salads and sandwiches, burgers and lamb skewers, according to Topal, who said he will be announcing the name of his chef by the end of September.
Tarla is being designed by restaurant specialist Zan Situ of Project A to Z of Walnut Creek.
“My restaurant will be unique, different with clean looking design. People will feel comfortable with open kitchen design so people sitting at the bar can see the chef preparing meal,” Topal said.
