Take Me to Your Burger, Napa

Where's Napa's best burger? Tell us, and we'll tell the world.

I remember endless summers in Missouri when my father cooked up burgers on a charcoal grill. A little ketchup and mustard on a white bun and we were set.

The Napa burger scene would fascinate my family with all the innovative toppings, cooking methods and heavenly bread choices. Whether it’s a veggie burger or Kobe beef, Napa chefs’ burgers are as varied as people’s favorites.

I went out on the street to get opinions from burger connoisseurs, starting with two winemakers who live in Napa.

Chad Alexander, born and raised in Napa and exposed to a lot of fine cuisine, loves . “I love the thick piece of blue cheese on top of the Five Dot Ranch burger.”

Mitch Cosentino, a winemaker who employs his discerning palate, says he still needs to do a more in-depth burger tasting, but the best that comes to mind is the one at “It is a true burger with good meat and not over the top.” I asked him to get back to me if he finds a better one.

When I asked Anjali Martini who makes her favorite burger, without hesitation she said, “Gott’s, of course. They use Niman Ranch beef. Really great tasting meat 'cause the cattle are range fed.” She says her second runner up is .
