Pie lovers of the Napa Valley, rejoice: There will be pies at the new restaurant and bakery soon to open at the former site of in north Napa.
So many people have asked for pies — long Callender's signature dish — that he's reversed an earlier decision not to offer them, owner Cyrus Mousavi said Monday.
But, added Mousavi, Oventi's pies will be better than the ones formerly baked at the Trower Avenue restaurant.
Mousavi said he's hired two bakers to turn out the pies and other pastries and intends to add breads as well.
Another two dozen employees have been hired for the restaurant, all Napa residents, Mousavi said.
While he and Sam Naeine, who has been renovating the property for months, declined to give a firm date for Oventi's opening, Mousavi said he expects to quietly begin serving three meals a day within a couple of weeks.
He'll give his staff another two weeks "to get to know each other, get to know the menu, get to know the restaurant," and then have a grand opening, Mousavi said.
How will we know when Oventi is first open to the public? Napa Patch is keeping an eye on the awning installation, but Mousavi said there's still some cleaning, painting and light construction to be completed inside.
We promise to let you know as soon as we find out it's open: Naeine promises that Oventi will have "really good" coffee.
