Pearl Jam, Stones, Prince Eyed for BottleRock Lineup

Workers scramble to build new outdoor stage next to Silverado Trail.

Cyberspace is abuzz with speculation about a revised lineup for BottleRock Napa Valley now that Grateful Dead spinoff band Furthur has cancelled for Thursday's concert date due to illness.

More than 30 posters on Napa Valley Patch's Facebook page suggest that Pearl Jam was added for the Saturday, May 11, roster and that BottleRock organizers are in the process of approaching The Rolling Stones. Mick and the gang are currently in the Bay Area in the midst of their concert tour.

"They are heading down to ask the Stones but nothing is confirmed yet," posted Mindi Levine, marketing manager at Napa's Uptown Theatre and a DJ at KVYN "The Vine" radio station in Napa. Both KVYN and Uptown are associated with BottleRock through mutual connections.

Levine also posted that Prince, another speculation, was not confirmed either.

Meanwhile, the BottleRock grounds crew today is erecting a massive outdoor stage next to the Silverado Trail. Major activity continues to get ready for the festival, which begins Wednesday.

Third Street resident Wendy Thornton said she has had enough and is moving out before BottleRock gets here. However, on the way out, she decided to take advantage of the BottleRock electronic "Expect Delays" road sign on Third Street to piggyback a flyer for her moving sale which is happening today.

Patch photographer Al Francis snapped a quick photo of her resourceful advertising ploy. Good luck at your moving sale, Wendy!
