May the Best Beard Win: Napa Valley Vintners Contest Seeks Best "Harvest Beard"

We're growing more than grapes in the Napa Valley: Check out 2012's bumper crop of "harvest beards" under cultivation in the vineyards and vote for your favorite through Halloween on the Napa Valley Vintners blog and Facebook page.

When harvest is on in the Napa Valley, vineyard and winery workers don't have time to do much else — and that includes shaving.

The annual proliferation of "harvest beards" has inspired the Napa Valley Vintners, a trade group representing more than 400 wineries in Napa County, to create a formal contest.

The winner of the 2012 Harvest Beard Contest earns "bragging rights and a $250 gift certificate to a Napa Valley restaurant on our Wine List Recognition Program," according to the Vintners' blog

More than two dozen beard photos have been entered in the contest at napavintners.blogspot.com, where you can click through the gallery and vote for your favorite through Halloween.

Voting is also underway through Oct. 31 on the Vintners' Facebook page, facebook.com/NapaVintners.
