KVON's New Manager Named: Comes from Napa Valley Register

Larry Sharp leaves the Napa Valley Register's circulation department to take over as general manager for KVON and KVYN Jan. 2.

A longtime radio professional who has recently been working for the Napa Valley Register is going back to his roots, becoming the new general manager for Napa's two radio stations next month.

According to a statement from the stations' owners:

Wine Country Broadcasting is pleased to announce the appointment of a new General Manager for its two Napa radio stations KVON-AM and KVYN-FM. 

After nine years of running KVYN FM and KVON AM, current General Manager, Jeff Schechtman has decided to pursue other ventures. Wine Country Broadcasting has appointed Larry Sharp to take over as General Manager of the two stations effective January 2, 2013.

Larry is a local Napa resident with extensive experience in the radio industry. Over his 30+ years in the industry, working for stations in San Francisco, Sacramento and Seattle, Larry has gained experience in every aspect of radio station management. His most recent successes have been in programming and marketing. He has successfully increased ratings and revenues for stations including, KUFX (K-Fox) and KSAN 107.7 The Bone in San Francisco.

“Larry’s unusually diverse and extensive experience in all aspects of radio management makes him the ideal candidate to bring about change and add abundant energy to his new assignment.”

Wine Country Broadcasting purchased KVON and KVYN in 2003 from Moss Entertainment. 

KVON 1440 AM carries ESPN programming, the Oakland A’s, the San Jose Sharks and the Oakland Raiders.  KVYN 99.3 the Vine carries adult contemporary music. Good Morning Bob is simulcast weekday mornings from 6:00-9:00am.
