HTC One: Latest, Greatest Smartphone?

The new model was unveiled Tuesday; it goes on sale in March.

With some fanfare, HTC rolled out a fresh new design Tuesday.

The HTC One, which goes on sale in March, is being touted for its speedy camera, stereo-like sound and minimalist design.

The 4.7-inch phone operates on overhauled Android software. It has a casing of aluminum and polycarbonate, and will be available in 16 MB and 32 MB versions, CNN Money reported.

The phone got some rave reviews via Twitter in the San Francisco Bay Area on Tuesday:

  • @AviOnWire: Pretty cool looking slab of glass and metal
  • @robey: HTC is knocking 'em out of the park

But a few Patch readers in the Silicon Valley were not fans of the new HTC One, and said they plan to stick with the iPhone.

"Love my iPhone, so probably not!" one reader posted on the Facebook page for Cupertino Patch, the heart of Apple-land.

Of course, the iPhone 5 has been dogged by lagging sales. A report on Business Insider said the company cut iPhone 5 orders to 30 million iPhone 5, down from 40 million. Some industry insiders speculate that's because Apple is already throwing its efforts into the launch of either the iPhone 5s or the iPhone 6, though the company has not released specs on those phones or announced when they might be available.

It's too soon to decide which smartphone is the brightest of them all. The Verge has a great side-by-side comparison of several models and Huffington Post compares the HTC One with the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The pricing for the HTC One has yet to been announced.

What is your smartphone of choice? Will you switch to the HTC One next month?

Why do the Hispanics need their own Chamber Of Commerce? Asians, African-Americans, Caucasians,Read More Indians, and all other races use the same Chamber Of Commerce in unity. The Hispanics are welcome to use it as well. Unless they're promoting their own race above others in the business community. Naw, they wouldn't do anything racist like that, would they?
