Downtown Napa's The Grand Hand Gallery is partnering with Napa Valley Museum to create a new gift shop at the Yountville museum.
Newly opened this month, the Napa Valley Museum Gift Shop & Grand Hand Gallery Annex will offer a selection of handmade gifts and fine craft made by several Napa Valley and Bay Area artists.
"We are thrilled to partner with the Napa Valley Museum on the new Annex & Gift Shop," said Grand Hand Gallery owner Ann Pifer. "It is a great way for both of our organizations to get more art to more residents and visitors in Napa Valley.
"At a time when many museums are outsourcing their retail operations to large-scale gift shop management companies that offer lots of mass-produced, imported gift items, we applaud Napa Valley Museum for finding a way to partner with a local business to offer high-quality, handmade work, much of which is made by Northern California artists," Pifer added.
Some of the artists whose work will be for sale include: Nichibei Potters (Sebastopol, ceramics); Patti Wessman (Napa, glass tableware); Karen Winograde (Napa, ceramics); Margaret Dorfman (Oakland, fruit parchment jewelry and bowls); Meghan Urback (Palo Alto, felt); Batle Studio (San Francisco, graphite objects); and over 35 more gallery favorites.
Meagan Doud, Napa Valley Museum’s Exhibition and Development Coordinator, said the museum has "always appreciated the stellar group of artists and craftspeople that The Grand Hand has assembled at their Main Street gallery and are so excited to host an Annex space at the Museum," she said.
"We're looking forward to a wonderful partnership!," she added
Museum volunteers will staff the space and 20 percent of each sale will go directly back to support the work of the museum.
The Gift Shop & Gallery Annex will be open to the public during normal museum hours: Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.- 4 p. m.
