Former Mondavi Home is New Site for Napa Valley Showhouse

Showhouse partners include Napa Valley Film Festival, Traditional Home Magazine, Charles Krug Winery.

"Traditional Home Magazine" is partnering with St. Helena's Charles Krug Winery to host its second annual Napa Valley Showhouse.

"Traditional Home"
will recruit top designers to draw inspiration from the surrounding vineyards, to transform Peter Mondavi Jr.’s former private residence into a stunning design showcase.

The former Peter Mondavi Jr. residence at 2800 Main St. in St. Helena was also home to Robert Mondavi in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Showhouse will kick off with a Preview Gala on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and remain open to the public for nearly six weeks from Thursday, Oct. 10 – Sunday, Nov. 17.

The Showhouse is timed to coincide with "Traditional Home’s" sponsorship of the Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF), which runs Nov. 13-17,  and a percentage of Showhouse proceeds will benefit the Festival, a 501 c3 non-profit organization.

“The Napa Valley Film Festival is honored to partner with Traditional Home and Charles Krug Winery on this year’s Showhouse,” said Brenda Lhormer, Co- Founder and Director of the Napa Valley Film Festival. “Last year’s inaugural Showhouse at Cardinale was a big success and I’m sure this year’s Showhouse will be equally spectacular.

"The Showhouse perfectly sets the stage for our mid- November celebration of film, food, and wine,” she said.

Visitors to the Showhouse will also enjoy exclusive access to the Peter Mondavi Sr. family’s historic renovation of the Charles Krug 1872 Redwood Cellar, which will convert part of Napa Valley’s oldest winery into a tasting room and hospitality center.

“Napa Valley is such an inspiring location, filled with a wonderful history and distinctive design style," said Ann Maine, editor in chief, "Traditional Home." "We are incredibly honored to be working with Charles Krug and Peter Mondavi, Jr. to host our 2013 Napa Valley Showhouse and celebrate the historic restoration of the winery’s Redwood Cellar.

“The Peter Mondavi Sr. family’s commitment to preserving the Napa Valley’s long-standing heritage and their enthusiasm for showcasing today’s newest design talent makes them the perfect partner for this year’s Showhouse,”Maine said.

Peter Mondavi Jr. said he was equally pleased to participate.

“Along with my entire family, I am thrilled to partner with Traditional Home on this wonderful design endeavor,” said Mondavi Jr., co-proprietor of the Charles Krug Winery. “We are excited to showcase this spectacular house, unveil our historic renovation of Napa Valley’s oldest winery and most importantly, share our beautiful wines.”

Showhouse sponsors whose products will be featured in the home include: AKDO, Benjamin Moore, Bevolo, Circa, Cost Plus World Market, Crossville Tile, Dacor, and The Rug Company.
