Facebook Users Share Shopping Favorites in Napa

From consignment stores to gift certificates and everything in between, Facebook talks, we listen.

Stuck for shopping ideas - and stuck in town to boot? We asked our friends on Facebook where they like shopping in Napa that was "Napan,"  and they leapt at the opportunity to share. 'Tis the season, after all.

Antiques and consignment stores, stationery and gift stores, and ethic crafts shops ranked high, as did more hyper-local businesses: the Napa Valley Toffee Company (Robin Chell Bright), Napa Valley Traditions (Jeanine Poole) and Napa Valley Apothecary (call for appointment, suggests Elizabeth Ellis Mautner) were all mentioned. (UPDATE: Unfortunately Napa Valley Toffee is no more, having closed to make room for an expansion.)

Another eponymous suggestion was Napa Valley Coffee Roasters (Karen Garcia), and in the same vein we find Artists of the Valley Gallery (Terry Rond Kent)

Less local were a couple chain stores - Sarah Wyant nominated Target, and Shaun Danner put a Best Buy on her wish list, because there isn't one.

Some, like Karen Garcia, responded with long lists of ideas, including one now closed for the holidays (CP Thrift). Her other suggestions included Rancho Gordo, Annette's,  McCaulou's, Inti, and Beaded Nomad.

Beaded Nomad also showed up on the list from Pat Mclaughlin, along with Alice's Consignments, Antiques on Second, "Mel Simpson's Vintage Pottery, Carol Scott's Succulents, and... I'm not quite done yet! "

Carrie Rosewall-Gallagher tell us the Playful Garden "has wonderful unique gifts," and  Aaron William Connelly votes for Anew Beginning "for the kids!"

Several Facebook Friends suggested gift certificates to local restaurants, which seems like a sound choice. Gift certificates are available at many of the stores in town, not only the usual suspects like Copperfield's Books and Trader Joe's, but newcomers like the Century Napa Theater. Everyone goes to the movies.

It's hard not to respect, however, the endorsement that Tony Valdivia came up with for Downtown Joe's Brewery: "T-shirts, sweatshirts, glasses, coffee mugs, beer to go, gift cert. What person wouldn't want these for Christmas!!!!" What indeed.
