Winemaker Wednesday: Jemrose Wines

The vineyards are located in the cool climate Bennett Valley AVA in Sonoma County. The valley is nestled between three mountains and sits atop a bench land that is heavily influenced by ocean breezes and fog. The vineyards are predominately on hillsides with elevations ranging from 500 to 1000 feet. There are four different vineyards each having a unique sun exposure, slope and elevation. Soils compositions vary but are predominately rocky volcanic loam with excellent drainage.

Jemrose farming practices are designed to produce the highest quality fruit that represents the unique AVA location and winemaking philosophy. These practices can best be summarized as very low yields, meticulous canopy management, sparse irrigation and picking when fruit is ripe but not over ripe.
