Buckhorn Grill Closes In Napa; Opening in Vacaville

Buckhorn Grill at the Shops of Napa Center closed its doors this week after 12 years, and is opening in the fall of 2014 at the Nut Tree mall in Vacaville.

The eatery credits its start to Napa, saying "The idea of the Buckhorn Grill was born out of the success of the product at the Chef’s Market in Napa, California. Thousands of Tri-Tip sandwiches were sold at the market on Friday nights."

The first Buckhorn Grill opened in 1999 in San Francisco, California and now has restaurants in Roseville, Sacramento, Pleasanton, Emeryville, Walnut Creek San Francisco, San Jose and New York.

The parent company, Buckhorn Restaurant Group, also owns Tri-Tip Grills in New York, Putah Creek Cafe, Buckhorn Catering and Buckhorn Steakhouse based in Winters.

The Vacaville Nut Tree, along I-80, sprang up on the spot of a popular 1920s fruit stand and roadside stop. It is now a master-planned retail complex being completed in phases through 2015.
