Winters Mayor Pro Tem Woody Fridae Endorses Joe Krovoza for 4th Assembly District

Winters Mayor Pro Tem Woody Fridae Endorses Joe Krovoza for 4th Assembly District

Woody Fridae, former Mayor and current Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Winters, announced his endorsement of Davis Mayor Joe Krovoza on September 8 for the 4th Assembly District, stating “Joe Krovoza is the right leader we need.“

“Many elected officials are hesitant to take a stand on this race because they want to retain a good relationship with whoever gets the primary nomination,” said Fridae, who wanted his friends and supporters to know early on that Joe Krovoza had his unreserved endorsement. “I believe that Joe is the one who has the experience, the commitment and the proven track record to make the tough legislative decisions facing our State at this very time.”

The former Mayor of Winters has known Joe Krovoza for years and has worked with him closely on a number of issues that have impacted the City of Winters in a strong and positive way. Joe chaired the Putah Creek Council for seven years, helping lead the negotiations for the Putah Creek Accord which protects important water supplies for Solano County, increased flows to reintroduce salmon and support unique California native fish, and has attracted over $12 million in restoration projects since 2000.

“It is a real honor to have Woody’s support this early in the election cycle. Many of the issues that face this Assembly District are near-and-dear to my heart and to be acknowledged by someone with Woody’s stature is a big boost to our overall campaign.”

Krovoza’s campaign has demonstrated broad appeal.  To the June 30 reporting date, over 300 individuals had supported the popular mayor’s campaign with nearly $120,000.  Krovoza has numerous endorsements from current and former elected officials, leaders of diversity communities and environmental groups, and prominent academics.

Krovoza’s accomplishments as Mayor of the City of Davis, Director of the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG), and Chair of the Woodland-Davis Clean Water Agency, and two decades of community service, serve as a track record for some of the issues that will form the cornerstone of his campaign—aggressive environmental protection and open space preservation, clean water and air quality, fiscal sustainability, and a focus on youth and education.

Joe’s career is with the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies and the campus’ Energy Efficiency Center.  His wife Janet also works for UC Davis and the Krovoza’s have two grown daughters, one still in college and one a teacher in Nashville, TN.
