Congrats. Here's a more esoteric question: What is Devo's most important contribution to electronic music?

Um. You've stumped me, Tom. But meanwhile, a correction: Show is Sunday, not Saturday.

Devo wanted to integrate it's synthesizers so that they would all communicate with each other. At the time there were a few different formats and each manufacturer had a different idea of how they should communicate. Bob Mothersbaugh went to Roland and between he and the Roland guys, they came up with a language to support all their devices. It was called MIDI.

Well, I do see that it was a piece of the puzzle, and others contributed to it's development, but they were the first to fully implement and use it for touring. This is all from memory, however. It seems that there are other versions of how it came about. I remember this from an interview with Bob Mothersbaugh in the early eighties.

i am so glad the uptown theatre is still here it brings back alot of memories

It must have been fun to see movies there, Daniel. The place was closed for most of the time I've been in Napa, so I'm happy it has reopened as a music hall, especially now that younger people are being allowed to attend: Kids as young as 12 can go hear Devo with adults and anyone 16 and up can get in alone.

Keep an eye on their calendar for a show you might like: The interior restoration is gorgeous.
