Friday:

This is Preservation Napa Valley's 2011 Community Preservation Project, a photographic and film documentation of Napa Valley Old Timers. This unprecedented photographic and film documentation presents the work of six local, professional photographers and a filmmaker who captured fourteen unsung Napa Valley residents from Pope Valley to Angwin, Rutherford, Napa, Calistoga, American Canyon, these folks all played a part in a quieter, smaller Valley. Farmers, teachers, fruit truck drivers, dairy men, naturalists, homemakers and hay-makers; these are the folks that watched the transformation of Napa from a vast and diverse agricultural bread basket to the viticultural powerhouse Napa Valley is today. It is the last generation that holds the memories and stories of a place and time passed.

Friday:

Step into the Land Down Under, with rock 'n' roll music from the legends of Aussie Rock. The quarterly Garage Band 101 Concert stars students from rock band workshop, in which students ages 7-adult form bands and rehearse together for 11 weeks, coached by music teachers with extensive rock band experience. The final product is this performance before a live audience at the . This session's concert features music from AC/DC, Men at Work, Midnight Oil, INXS and more. Suitable for all ages.
If you go: Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.  The rock ‘n’ roll is from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Napa Valley Opera House, 1030 Main St. in Napa.

The "unofficial kick off" to the Napa Valley's summer season, the Judd’s Hill Musical Bonanza! includes live entertainment and the Napa Valley’s "Champion BBQ Lunch" perfectly paired with library, current and future releases of Judd’s Hill wine. This year’s musical entertainment features the exciting and sassy, vintage rock & roll sounds of one of the Bay Area’s favorite dance and show bands - The Barbary Coasters. This event benefits the , providing talented young musicians an opportunity to perform together in a full symphonic orchestra.
If you go: The day’s free for Members, and $55 for non-members.  The “Bonanza” runs from noon - 3 p.m. at Judd’s Hill Winery, 2331 Silverado Trail in Napa.

Steel from the Twin Towers will arrive in Napa after a cross country shipment from New York - steel that will be used in the Napa 9/11 Memorial to be constructed downtown. The community is invited to the official project kickoff, a free event featuring music, food and drink and the opportunity to view the World Trade Center steel up close. Steel from the World Trade Center was offered by the Port Authority of New York-New Jersey to communities around the world to use in commemorating the events of September 11, 2001. Built from this recovered steel with added glass panels, the Napa 9/11 Memorial will be a striking assemblage on a site adjacent to Main Street at Napa Creek.

If you go:  The kickoff event is from 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the on 1821 Monticello Road in Napa.

Sunday:

The 42nd Annual George Carl Kids Fishing Derby is a long standing tradition that began 42 years ago to introduce the sport of fishing to young people. Today, it has blossomed into a day of good old-fashioned family fun. Children ages 3-16 have from 6:00 until noon to catch the biggest fish they can. Club members and other volunteers are on hand to help less experienced fishers. Prizes are given for different age groups and different species of fish and EVERY child goes home with a prize for participating.The fishin' will go on rain or shine. All children must be with an adult and bring their own fishing gear. Lake Hennessey with be stocked with fish this year!
