Tori Anna Back in (Singing) Saddle, Competing in "Academy Idol"

Langfitt, who had health problems earlier this year, is competing in a new contest at Academy of Art in San Francisco.

The last year has been anything but happy or easy for Napa Valley singer Tori Anna Langfitt.

Once the darling of the Napa Valley because of her success in the Napa Valley Idol competition, followed by success but ultimate disappointment on TV's American Idol, the 19-year-old Yountville resident (formerly of Napa) is rebounding now after some serious health problems.

"We had quite the scare," said her sister, Taylor "Tay" Langfitt, 21. "She had five lung collapses over a period of six months until her emergency surgery in March."

Taylor Langfitt said her sister, a graduate of New Technology High School in Napa, "has thankfully made a full recovery now"  and is competing in a singing competition, "Academy Idol," at her new school, the Academy of Art in San Francisco.

"The winner of the competition gets an all-expense-paid trip to any vocal competition in the United States (such as American Idol, The Voice, X factor, or any other competition of her choosing)," Taylor Langfitt said.

"There are currently four people left in Academy Idol including Tori," she added. "Votes are placed through Facebook and YouTube, and whoever has the most cumulative votes from this round on until the winner is announced on Dec. 18," she said.

Taylor gave the following instructions if you want to vote for Tori:
