Porchfest: Melissa Phillips Sings Original Americana

Catch a rising star on York Street at Napa Porchfest, July 31 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Born in the Midwest and raised all over the U.S., Melissa Phillips has been exposed to and developed a love for all things Americana. She was lucky to find her voice at an early age and has sung in choirs, musicals, bands, and as a session vocalist.

Three years ago she decided it was time to start singing her own songs and set out writing. The result you'll hear is her story as she remembers it, from the back seat of the family car traveling around the country.

Sung in a clear voice with an honest point of view, Melissa’s songs are both personal and universal.

"She is a classic storyteller, taking us from bittersweet desire to the sun-dappled summer days of her childhood. This wonderful up and coming singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area ably turns life’s experiences into personal vignettes."  --Mike Lidskin, Twirl Radio/Recharged Radio

The self-guided musical tour encourages listeners to get out of their cars and stroll or cycle the city’s neighborhoods, enjoying the sounds of live music and the sights of historic homes from earlier times.

In the words of Napa architect, preservationist and City Council member Juliana Inman, “vernacular porches and homegrown music” make a perfect match.

So mark your calendar for July 31 from 2 to 5 p.m. and watch Napa Patch for our daily Porchfest updates!
