She is waiting for news from Iwanuma, which was devastated by Friday's tsunami. Dr. Wilkes was able to contact the tour agent from Sendai, but he has not yet heard the status of the group or if they will still be able to travel.

Dr. Wilkes is hopeful the chorus will be able to attend and  now plans to make the May 1 concert a fundraiser for Iwanuma. It will be held in the college’s Performing Arts Center.
