Rain Cancels Napa Park Concert; First Friday Still On

Napa City Nights has canceled its opening concert Friday due to weather, but downtown's First Fridays celebration includes another cool event at Wildcat.

Our Weekend Planner had to be overhauled Friday afternoon when the folks from reluctantly bowed to the weather forecast and canceled this year's opening concert. Fortunately, there's other musical entertainment in store -- literally:

Friday:

unveiled a new art gallery last month -- read about it -- and on June 3 is opening its second exhibition with party including light refreshments and a fashion show. Says shop owner Thea Witsil, "Bring your instruments if you feel like joining in on some funky jamming or just come to schmoooooz it up with some of the best peeps this side of the Mighty Mississippi!"

Saturday:

is celebrating its 30th anniversary on Saturday. As a "thank you" to the community, they are having an in-store party, offering 30% off most items as well as free coffee, cake, and snacks. There will also be local authors signing copies of their books and local musicians performing throughout the day.
If you go: The store is open from 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. and is at 3900 Bel Air Plaza in Napa.

Saturday:  

Tonight’s program at the features ten outstanding singers, including Napa native Rachel Allen. Tonight also marks the return of host and pianist Richard B. Evans after his recent shoulder surgery, and he has promised to employ both hands and all 10 of his fingers for the evening.

If you go: Tickets are $15 and available at the box office beginning at 6 p.m.  The show begins at 7 p.m. at the Jarvis Conservatory, 1711 Main St in Napa. Complimentary tapas and wine served at intermission.
