A Napa teen was unexpectedly given a shot to be the next "American Idol."
auditioned for the Fox network reality television show "American Idol" last fall in front of a panel of celebrity judges, she confirmed.
Langfitt declined to comment further for this story until she could receive approval from the show to speak with Napa Patch. Her contest entry agreement specifies she must have prior approval for media interviews.
However, she describes her excitement at receiving a "golden ticket" from the judges after her first round of auditions on an earlier American Idol website video interview.

The golden ticket advanced her to what is known as "Hollywood Week," on the show, a week of intense training and judging. Those auditions are to air on TV this Wednesday and Thursday on Fox at 8 p.m.
Langfitt was nominated by a local jazz club to compete on the show, according to the Idol interview. She was a contestant in the local NV Idol competition in 2011 and won the "audience favorite" award.
