Napa Porchfest: Singers and Folkies Entertain

Take a walk on the acoustic side with these singer-songwriters and guitarists during Sunday's free Porchfest music festival, taking place in neighborhoods all over Napa.

If you like the solo acoustic sound of a singer and a guitar, you have a lot to choose from during , Sunday from 2 to 5 in neighborhoods all over Napa.

You could just park your , or stroller and stay at 1629 Seminary St. all afternoon for the double bill of Rachel Scully (2 p.m.) and Lissette Banda (3:30 p.m.). Both young artists have strong local followings.

At 256 Franklin St., you can hear the duo guitar stylings of from 2 to 5 p.m.

The Americana duo plays the at 486 Coombs St. and the guitar-picking is at 1441 Center St., both from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

1607 Muller Dr. is another all-acoustic porch, with guitarist Chuck Mottern at 2 p.m. and the duo of Ron Bruder & Michelle Chu at 3:30 p.m.

Or you could roam to 446 South Jefferson St., where singer-songwriter Andrew Stanton performs at 3:30, following a 2 p.m. set by the alternative-rock Kristen Van Dyke Band.

More acoustic sounds are happening at 487 Jefferson St., where the versatile Steve Della Maggiora and Darlene Gardner perform at 3:30 p.m., following a 2 p.m. set by jazzy accordionist .

If the word “accordion” caught your eye, then you have a decision to make: Tommy T’s set is head to head with Steve Ventrello and Carol Potts, who play “Euro accordion with vocals” from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 1907 Spencer St.

That’s in the neighborhood also known as the Alphabet Streets, where at 1613 B St. the group Shilo and Bell promise “bold original folk” at 3:30 p.m., following a 2 p.m. “reggae style” set by Andrew Lyon.

And at 1517 E St., the Napa Musicians Performance Guild promises folk along with blues, jazz and world music.

Up in Alta Heights, one house is hosting an acoustic mini-porchfest of its own with Trio Solea playing flamenco, Latin and jazz at 2 p.m., guitarist-singer Tom Overton performing at 3 p.m. and singer-pianist Frank Hernandez at 4 p.m., all at 111 E. First St.
