Napa Porchfest Music Spotlight: Tommy T

July 31 from 2 to 5 p.m., Napa Porchfest brings together a diversity of music reflecting the city's lively cultural communities. Each day this month, we profile one of the acts on the Porchfest schedule.

Singer and accordionist Tommy Turigliatto has played his jazzy blend of hits and standards for four decades around the Bay Area and the West, from San Francisco to Seattle and beyond.

He's been both an active touring artist and a contract musician for a major record label, all while raising seven children with his wife.

On July 31, instead of performing in a recording studio, supperclub or wedding hall, “Tommy T” will entertain strolling audiences from the porch of the Tom Collins-J. Panter home at 487 Jefferson St.

"Napa Valley has a lot of talent hidden in the hills, and sometimes right around the corner," says Panter, a painter and calligrapher who's offered her own corner of Jefferson and Laurel for friend Turigliatto's Porchfest stage.

Accompanied by Marissa Carlisle on drums, the longtime Napa resident also nicknamed “The Jazz Man” brings his musical mastery to the inaugural Napa Porchfest along with nearly 30 other local acts, performing July 31 between 2 and 5 p.m. on porches around Napa.

A brand-new, locally-sponsored and non-commercial festival, presents a three-hour, self-guided concert tour of live music performed on porches in some of the city’s most picturesque neighborhoods, including Alta Heights, Fuller Park, Old West Napa and the Alphabet Streets.

Free to all ages, Napa Porchfest encourages listeners to get out of their cars and stroll or cycle the city’s neighborhoods, enjoying the sounds of live music and the sights of historic homes from earlier times.

In the words of Napa architect, preservationist and City Council member Juliana Inman, “vernacular porches and homegrown music” make a perfect match.

So mark your calendar and watch Napa Patch daily as we build an with links to profiles, music photos and videos of all the musicians, with the addresses of the porches where they’ll be playing.
