Beth Nelsen also seeking funds to support film, titled "Camp Beaverton: Meet the Beavers."

Napa Valley filmmaker Beth Nelsen's feature documentary film, "Camp Beaverton: Meet the Beavers," will have its world premiere at San Francisco's  International Frameline Film Festival on June 23.

Frameline is one of the oldest and largest LGBTQ film festivals in the world.

Nelsen, a graduate of both Vintage High School and Napa Valley College, said she is seeking some help with financing the film through a grassroots, crowd-sourcing website called indiegogo.com.  She said she still needs to pay her sound-mixer, color correctionist and for exhibition copies.

Nelsen, who also has a bachelor's degree from UCLA and a master's degree in directing documentary from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia, said "Beaver" is her first full-length feature, although she has already produced shorter films.

"I had two half-hour documentaries play at the (Napa Valley) Opera House in February, as I serve as the technological Elder for Suscol Intertribal Council," Nelsen said.

"My co-director, Ana Grillo, and I shot this at Burning Man last summer and I have been editing this film since, from my bedroom near Yountville," she said.  "I finally finished final cut last month and have been in the process of polishing it in style."

In addition to Frameline, Nelsen said the film will also be part of other festivals.

"We've also been accepted to Rio's Festival de Gay Cinema, Vancouver Queer FF, and Rome's Gender Documentary Film Festival; Rome has insisted on flying me out in August," she said.  "Festivals who have reached out to me personally are: Seattle Lesbian & Gay, Queer Lisboa of Lisbon, Portugal, Hamburg's Lesbiche Schwule, and Barcelona Int'l Gay & Lesbian FF.

"According to my Vimeo stats, India cannot seem to stop watching it!," she added.

Nelsen said that her fundraising goal was $12,000.
"If 1,200 people paid $10 each, we'd be there," she said.
