Napa Valley Conservatory Theater continues the 2012/2013 season with David Ives' "Mere Mortals," directed by Danielle Cain, March 8-17.
Ives combines satire, wit, and hilarity in Mere Mortals at the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center, 2277 Napa-Vallejo Highway, Napa.
Mere Mortals is a collection of six short comic plays:
--FOREPLAY shows us a first date at a miniature golf course that morphs into a discussion of sex, time and love.
--MERE MORTALS eavesdrops on three construction workers, 50 stories up, as they share the amazing secrets of their past.
--In TIME FLIES, two young mayflies meet at a pond and hit it off, only to discover they have a lifespan of only one day—and their lives are half over!
--Jack and Jill meet at a party in ENGLISH MADE SIMPLE. As they get to know each other it’s revealed that they’re just lab rats in an academic experiment. Will the rats rebel?
--DR. FRITZ is a wacky surgeon, or a souvenir seller named Maria, or a sick tourist’s worst nightmare.
--In DEGAS C’EST MOI a man wakes up and decides to be the French artist Degas. The best place to do that is in New York City where he encounters all that makes great art.
