Local Band Goes "Surfabilly"

Napa's number one surf-rock group has a new release: The Deadlies Go to Nashville, and it "just may be the greatest, if only, surfabilly rock record on the planet."

There's a reason the Deadlies are called "NorCal's Most Dangerous Surf Band:" These guys are afraid of nothing. They've played the Creepy KOFY Movie Time TV show, , the  and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, where they are the house band.

The Deadlies' latest deed of daring is a new CD titled . Here's what publicist Mindi Levine has to tell us about the disc:

Unlike anything you’ve heard before, TDGTN just may be the greatest, if only, surfabilly rock record on the planet.  With the magic powers of industry legends Jack Douglas, Joe Chicarelli and Jay Messina behind it TDGTN combines the best of what surf and rockabilly have to offer. Led heroically by producer Ivan Miles Piesh, TDGTN unleashes a full-on aural attack that latches on and doesn’t let go.

I guess it's all in how you look at it. To me, it seems they've paid their dues; and after my two decades in the independent music business, I'd never run down a band that has been working for years, just because there are newer acts on the scene. But the more bands that post their information on Napa Patch, the more we'll be able to talk about them!

I made a promise to myself that I cannot commit to full time stalking, nor the face/head/neck 'DEADLIES' tattoos until Bob croons on a track!!! BOBS voice is responsible for FAR MORE global warming than any lame GREENHOUSE! If the voices in my head sounded like Bob St. Laurent, my arrest record would be HUGE and restraining orders against me - endless! I LOVES ME MY DEADLIES!!

Ok I have to recant my previous statement? I saw the Deadlies a few weeks ago in front of Wildcat. I was downtown to see another band play-and the Deadlies tore it up. I heard a freaking crazy batman theme. Then they played the best version of wipeout I have heard since I saw Chuck Berry and Jerry Garcia play it together (Chuck Berry on lead CMON). Anyways-I have to say you are one of the top bands in Napa regardless. Sorry for dissing you- reverbnation does not show off your talents!

WHAT a great comment, Matt! So glad you got to hear the guys in person. Live music is where the action is. BTW my boyfriend (yes! I have one and he is a very patient man) is performing at the next Wildcat music showcase May 4 at 7:30. It will NOT be like the Deadlies ... he does an original-music, spoken-word version of Oscar Wilde's horror story "The Picture of Dorian Gray."
