Heavyweight film critic and media personality Leonard Maltin is coming to Napa this November to serve as president of the jury that judges entrants in the , according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The festival returns Nov. 7-11 for its second year presenting documentary, feature and short films in Napa, Yountville, St. Helena and Calistoga.
Maltin, 61, will helm the jury panel and preside over the closing night awards ceremony at which the jury and audience awards are presented, according to THR.
Best known for his annual movie guides, which in many households are as much of a viewing staple as the television remote, Maltin is a 30-year veteran of the TV program Entertainment Tonight and the author of numerous other books on movies and movie history.
A music lover as well, Maltin contributed a rave review for a CD by Calistoga-based jazz pianist and bandleader , who said the two became friendly when Vuckovich was living in New York.
The Napa Valley Film Festival opens Nov. 7 with a gala at Robert Mondavi Winery. Among the films scheduled to be shown: SOMM, a documentary following four young sommeliers as they prepare for the rigorous testing required for Master Sommelier certification.
