From Prairie Home Companion in the 1980s to the Napa Valley Opera House this weekend, singer-songwriter Greg Brown continues to win fans and warm hearts.

The opportunity to see Greg Brown at the this Saturday night is one to grab.

He's also playing Sebastopol and Berkeley on this tour, but neither booking is in a historic second-story concert hall with pristine acoustics, generous sightlines and a comfortable seat for everyone in the house.

And you'll want to be comfortable as you lean back into an evening with this easygoing singer-songwriter, a true American bard whose songs have been covered by Joan Baez, Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson and other discerning stars.

With his fluid, folksy baritone and wry demeanor, Brown is a spellbinding performer as he spins yarns around his songs, which are often tender, occasionally wickedly funny and sometimes both:

" ... Oh the wine bottle's half empty -- the money's all spent. We're a cross between our parents and hippies in a tent."-- "Spring Wind"
