Grab & Go Kids Planner: Family Best Bets

Here's to matinees, jumping, healthy foods, constellations, and the Phantom — pick and choose from this week's array of events.

In this week's edition of our kid-friendly planner, we've picked five great family activities or events for the week.

AFTERNOON KIDS’ MATINEE

Where/When: St. Helena Public Library, 1492 Library Lane, St. Helena, Wednesday, 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: There’s always something right about a free matinee and this week it’s Disney’s Tangled, an animation take on the classic Rapunzel tale.

Pricing: Free, for kids 5+.

NAPA ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORTS CENTER

Where/When: 849 Jackson St., Suite 4A, Napa, daily

Why Go: Because that extra energy needs to be spent somewhere. Take the kids here and let them jump to their heart’s content.

Pricing: $6 for one hour, 707-226-5867.

THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS BABY FOOD

Where/When: , 3682 Bel Aire Plaza, Napa, Friday, 6-7 p.m.

Why Go: Okay, this isn’t exactly a kids event so grab a babysitter and come over to listen to cookbook author, Shane Valentine as he explains the five simple steps that will have your babies, toddlers and older kids eating healthy, nutritious foods.  There’ll be demos too.

Pricing:$15 lecture only, $45 lecture and hands-on cooking class. 

LOOK TO THE SKY

Where/When: Napa Valley Museum, 55 Presidents Circle, Yountville, Saturday 8-10 p.m.

Why Go: Because your kids are fascinated by the night sky. Who isn’t? Astronomers will be on hand to to talk about the constellations and galaxies that swirl above us. Remember to dress warmly, bring your binoculars and maybe a blanket.

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

Where/When: Lincoln Theater, 100 California Drive, Yountville, Friday & Saturday (next weekend too) 8 p.m.

Why Go: Because these talented teens will dazzle your kids.  Come and see this production put on by the students from Justin-Siena High School and be awed.

Pricing: General Admission $25 and Student/Senior Tickets $15
