The Uncensored Women Art Exhibit

There is a never ending list of women's rights issues taking place around the globe. Each day millions upon millions of women are being sold, forced into prostitution, abused, raped, tortured, and murdered.

Through this exhibit, we are attempting to educate the public on a common thread in all of these issues. Silence.

In order for us to make a safer world for women and girls, we must first create an political, emotional, and physical environment in which women feel safe enough to speak out on the wrongs that have been committed against them.

Local female artists of Napa are using their artistic voice to speak for those unable to use their own in Napa’s Uncensored Women’s art exhibit taking place at 7 pm, May 18th. Each art piece is inspired by the many tragedies around the world such as imprisonment, torture and even death that come as a result of women expressing themselves and utilizing their right to a voice.

The artists Brianna Goldfarb, Kaylani Fuller, Lucera Elena, and Angela Efe) are all Napa natives coming from different ethnic backgrounds and understanding the need to speak up for the women of the world who cannot speak for themselves. “We just want to use our art to make a difference in this world, here we’re able to express ourselves however we like. It’s only fair that we use that power to help those who don’t have the same rights” said Amber, one of the exhibits artists.

The proceeds of art and prints sold will go directly to the Polaris Project, which is raising money to create an international 24 hour hotline to help rescue sex trafficking victims.

With a moving subject, expressed through different outlets the exhibit is sure to strike a cord. If you’re looking for something thought provoking and moving in the Napa Valley, and would like to help raise awareness to a good cause make sure to make your way to this excellent art showcase.

*We're very excited to announce that Cheryl Laube will be joining us and contributing art from her Being Woman Series to help with this tremendous cause!
