T-Shirt / T-Dance

Celebrate Napa Valley LGBTQ Pride 2012 as the Napa Guerilla Gay Bar presents "T-Shirt / T-Dance" Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 3 to 9 pm at Silo's Jazz Club (530 Main Street, Napa)

Here's what we've got planned:

• Music & Dancing with Napa's own DJ Jake Lake
• Classic cocktails, specially-selected wines, beers (including Silo's very own "Mad Hatter Ale") and soft drinks served by Silo's professional staff will be available for purchase at the no-host bar
• "Jalisco Street Fare" on the patio from our friends at Compadres Rio Grille. We'll be enjoying:

1. "Build-It-Yourself" Soft Tacos - choose from Carnitas (slow-roasted pork), Pollo Asado (roasted chicken) or Grilled Portabello Mushrooms & Caramelized Onions (vegan) fillings along with a vast array of condiments and hot sauces
2. Coctel de Camarones - a light & refreshing Bay Shrimp cocktail in the style of Tepatitlán, Mexico 

So, why is the event called "T-Shirt / T-Dance"?

First, what's a T-Dance? The phrase "Tea Dance" or simply "T-Dance" refers to an afternoon or early evening dance party especially in the gay community. It seems to trace back to the Victorian Era when pretty much everyone was "in the closet". It evolved from the concept of afternoon tea. In gay lore, it's said that men would secretly meet on Sunday afternoons telling their friends or family that they were "going for tea" - which soon turned into the ever-popular afternoon club parties we now know as the "T-Dance".

What's with the T-Shirt? We're encouraging everyone to wear a t-shirt (or other clothing item) in one of the colors of the rainbow. During the event we'll take a break to create a human Pride Portrait to commemorate Napa Valley LGBTQ Pride 2012 and the "T-Shirt / T-Dance". Think of it as performance art with a photo opportunity!

$ 30 if purchased in May 
$ 40 if purchased in June 
$ 50 if purchased at the door on July 1
