Avner the Eccentric at the Opera House

is pleased to announce a new Summer Family Series, geared toward teens, ‘tweens and even adults, on eight consecutive Sunday afternoons in July and August. The Opera House will present shows featuring everything from a 3D laser and juggling act (Mark Nizer) to a world-class gypsy jazz ensemble (Hot Club of SF) to classic clowning (Avner the Eccentric), all at affordable prices. Funding is provided, in part, by Mechanics Bank and support provided by the County Special Projects Fund.  This is the last act of the summer; enjoy!

Avner Eisenberg is a reminder of the theatrical power that can reside in a single charismatic performer who touches the heart. A master of the art of physical comedy, Avner weaves a spell of poetic simplicity in a show of hilarious predicaments. Avner has appeared on and off Broadway with his hit show Exceptions to Gravity. He played the endearing Holy Man, “The Jewel,” in the Michael Douglas film, The Jewel of the Nile, and performed as a ventriloquist on Broadway, in Ghetto for which his dummy received a Tony Award nomination. Avner’s show defies the barriers of language and culture and has toured extensively in the US and abroad.

Join us for four shows in our Family Series and pay just $40.
