AUDITIONS FOR SSU SYMPHONIC CHORUS

A rare opportunity to sing in Weill Hall, the new world-class performance venue at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University, is being offered to community singers in the North Bay and beyond for the first time.

Regional auditions for the Sonoma State University Symphonic Chorus will take place in Novato, San Rafael, Rohnert Park and Napa in August.

 

Under the leadership of Director of Choral Activities Jenny Bent, the chorus' first concert is at 7 a.m. on Sept. 30 as part of the grand opening weekend of the Green Music Center.

 

The 2012-13 season also includes appearances with the Santa Rosa Symphony performing Titans of Opera on Dec. 1-3 and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana on May 5, 2013. 

 

The audition schedule includes:  

 

  • Novato: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1180 Lynwood Drive, Novato - Aug. 13,14, 1-6 p.m. 

 

  • Napa: First United Methodist Church of Napa, 625 Randolph Street. Napa  - Aug. 15, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 

 

  • San Rafael: Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1 Wellbrock Heights, San Rafael  - Aug. 16, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.  

 

  • Rohnert Park: Green Music Center, Room 1028, Sonoma State University, 1801 E. Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park - Aug. 21, 3-9 p.m.; Aug. 22, 5-8 p.m.; Aug. 23, 3-9 p.m. 

 

The SSU Symphonic Chorus rehearses on Mondays from 7-9:40 p.m. and gives three to four major concerts annually.
