Aspiring Songwriter? Star Coach Coming to Napa

Pat Pattison, who has coached Grammy winners, in Napa Feb. 19 for public workshop.

As the Grammys are set to air this Sunday (8 p.m., CBS), a songwriting teacher who has coached Grammy-winning singers announced Thursday he is coming to Napa.

Pat Pattison, a Berklee College of Music professor of lyric writing and poetry, will teach a public songwriting workshop in Napa on Feb. 19 for aspiring songwriters in the craft of lyric writing.

Pattison, coach to seven-time Grammy winner John Meyer, will be in Napa as part of a West Coast tour of songwriting workshops and lectures for a 2 1/2-hour songwriting workshop.

Attendees will have the opportunity to work one-on-one using their own songs.

The event is open to the general public and will be held at 4032 Maher St. Tickets and more information are available at patpattison.com

Pattison, coach to seven-time Grammy winner John Maye and to Grammy-winning folk singer-songwriter Gillian Welch, has spent 35 years teaching the craft of songwriting at Boston’s Berklee College of Music to aspiring Grammy nominees.

Pattison is the author of four books, “Songwriting Without Boundaries”, “Writing Better Lyrics”, “The Essential Guide to Lyric Form and Structure”, and “The Essential Guide to Rhyming.”

He has developed three online lyric writing courses, one on poetry, and one on creative writing available through Berkleemusic.com.

He has filmed a series of lectures and master-classes, available through Songwork.com and has written over 50 articles for various magazines and blogs.

"I took a class with a great teacher named Pat Pattison," Mayer is quoted as saying. " I learned a lot in that class and I still read his book, 'Writing Better Lyrics.' I think it's great."

Why do the Hispanics need their own Chamber Of Commerce? Asians, African-Americans, Caucasians,Read More Indians, and all other races use the same Chamber Of Commerce in unity. The Hispanics are welcome to use it as well. Unless they're promoting their own race above others in the business community. Naw, they wouldn't do anything racist like that, would they?
