News from Kayak Napa Valley:

Kayak NV continues our commitment to our Napa River clean-up days.

This year, we have four remaining scheduled clean-up days where we gather willing individuals to assist in freeing the river of trash and debris.

Paddlers arm themselves with gloves, trash bags and a "can do" spirit and head out to collect as much garbage as they possibly can.

After three hours of collecting, sorting and weighing our haul, we are ready to celebrate!

As has become our tradition, we all gathered at Compadres Rio Grille for a delicious lunch provided by a true friend of Kayak NV, owner Rick Enos.

The next sessions are:

Jul 19, Saturday 9:00 - 12:00

Aug 23, Saturday 12:00 - 3:00

Sep 6, Saturday 11:00 - 2:00

Oct 4, Saturday 10:00 - 1:00

Paul and I had a great time doing this in 2012. The kayaking was fun, the people were great and the lunch at Compadres was terrific. Here's what I wrote afterward, with photos: http://napavalley.patch.com/groups/volunteering/p/who-glued-a-beer-can-to-the-bridge

Huge clean-up crew...20 participants!349 lbs of trash and recyclables! That puts us over the 1,000lb. mark for the 2014 season...and we have 3 more clean-up days to go! Thanks for all of our veterans who keep coming out each time. Wow!!! A shout out to all of our sponsors: Black Stallion Winery, City of Napa, County of Napa, CalRecycle and Compadres Rio Grille. We could not do it without you!
