Support Superstorm Sandy Relief by Shopping

Until Friday night, your purchases at the Historic Napa Mill shops will help Red Cross relief efforts

Two weeks after a "perfect storm" descended on the Northeast, government and private relief organizations are still wading through the aftermath, even as Pres. Obama tours the devastation in New York.

But you don't have to go to New York, or even New Jersey, to find a way to help in the relief effort. The Napa County Red Cross has arranged with several local businesses on Main Street to receive a portion of their proceeds all this week for disaster relief efforts.

“We are happy to be able to assist in the efforts to aid the victims of Superstorm Sandy," said Jim Brandt of the Napa General Store, "by donating a portion of the proceeds from our café sales for the week."

"“The level of support from local businesses and residents in response to this disaster has been encouraging and exciting," said Anne Steinhauer, Executive Director of the Napa County Red Cross.  "We are continuing to deploy volunteers and raise funding for relief efforts.”

"We know the general public will want to assist in this worthy cause by frequenting the businesses in the Historic Napa Mill during the coming week,”  said Brandt. The Napa General Store, open for breakfast and lunch daily from 8:00 am to 4:00 p.m., will be participating through Friday, Nov. 16.

Other participating businesses in the Mill include:

Angele, donating a portion of their restaurant sales to disaster relief efforts.

Celedon will be donating a portion of proceeds from certain dishes (flash-fried calamari with spicy chipotle chili glaze and pickled ginger) or drinks (a glass of 2010 Greg Gauthier Riesling)

Sweetie Pie’s will be offering 10% of sales tomorrow, Friday Nov. 16.

The Napa River Inn will be donating a portion of their hotel stays;  the gift shop, Amelia’s will be donating 10% of their net proceeds.

Silo’s will give $1.00 for every mixed drink ordered evenings today and tomorrow, Nov. 15-16.

If you're not able to frequent the Napa Mill businesses this week, financial donations can be made by visiting www.redcross.org, or by calling 800-REDCROSS (800-733-2767).

For further information on this event and additional offers, visit the Napa County Red Cross Facebook page.

Why do the Hispanics need their own Chamber Of Commerce? Asians, African-Americans, Caucasians,Read More Indians, and all other races use the same Chamber Of Commerce in unity. The Hispanics are welcome to use it as well. Unless they're promoting their own race above others in the business community. Naw, they wouldn't do anything racist like that, would they?
