Skies Clearing for Sunday's Napa's Riverfront Chalk Festival

This fun, family event is free, and sunshine is predicted!

The second annual Napa’s Riverfront Chalk Festival is Sunday -- April 6 -- and, according to the weather forecast, there will be nothing but sunshine.

In support of Napa’s Arts in April, Riverfront businesses and featured local artist Amy Gallaher Hall are hosting this year's Chalk Fest.

Several local and student artists will create works of art along the walkways from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival is free and those attending are encouraged to begin their art walk at the Fourth Street overhang.

Gallaher Hall will painstakingly create her 9-foot by 12-foot original work of art,  chalking her design throughout the day. And that masterpiece -- weather permitting -- will remain on display until April 13 and beyond.

Local Artist Kristina Young will also be working on a collaborative chalk art piece on pastel board panels with other local artists.

This is a fun family event featuring artists of all ages.

And there are prizes! One will be for student entries and one for the adult artists.

Youth drawings will be judged for a chance at earning a cash prize of $150 and all other artists will have the chance to win the “best in show” cash prize of $350.

Kids can join in the fun inside the Children’s Chalk Area, supported by Nimbus Arts.

All art-booth proceeds go to Nimbus Arts, a non-profit dedicated to providing access to art in the Napa Valley.

Arts in April is an annual program supported by the Arts Council Napa Valley and Visit Napa Valley. The program is a tasty blend of wine, art and local culture.
