Senior Health Forum Set for Jan. 31 in Millbrae

The forum will focus on the future of senior health in San Mateo County.

If you’re curious about the state of senior health in San Mateo County, join the conversation in a free forum that will tackle senior issues like access to quality health care and affordable housing.

The forum, called “Senior Health —Living Long and Prospering in San Mateo County,” is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Millbrae Community Center.

Dr. Tanja Srebotnjak of Ecologic Institute, an international nonprofit for applied environmental research, will present findings from their new report titled “Health in San Mateo County. An Assessment of Current Status and an Outlook into Future Needs,” according to a news release.

In the Millbrae forum, Srebotnjak will discuss the affects of San Mateo County’s changing senior population demographics on access to health care, insurance coverage and other factors like transportation and affordable housing.

The forum is part of a series of healthy communities forums that started in 2011 across the region, thanks to a partnership with Sustainable San Mateo County, Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter and the San Mateo County Health System, according to a news release. Previous forums have covered issues like greener business, better streets and cleaner transportation.

Anyone is welcome to attend the free forum.
